Cycle of Renewal

Time passes. Yet, a dreamer's heart still remains with the warmth inside to power through all that life has to offer. Each moment returns us to our inner most thoughts as the truth from within reveals itself and manifests its energy into our dreams.  The power of love harvests in the changing colors of moments to be returned with more purity and clarity.

A balance is attained, with the harmony of our hearts and mind. The awaken soul walks deeply in thought, words, and love. The cycle of renewal is then complete.

True Colors

Walking outside the door, the chill brisk touching my face wakening the sense to ensure me fall is indeed before us. I absolutely love the fall. Calming energy from the fog quietly rolls inland embracing our true colors.

As things sort itself out, the truth is revealed in its layers. The light and dark allow space, time and the universe to do its magic as we move about our days. Everything changes, but what is beautiful will always be beautiful, warming the heart and filling it more compassion with every foot step, thought, word and breathe. With each laugh, our senses are renewed.

The heartwarming series features his young sons indulging in carefree activities and going about their daily lives in Japan.

The photographs exude a sense of bliss and warmth, and one can imagine the observer looking on lovingly as the boys prance, climb, sing and play.

With this photo series, Hamada hopes to create something that his sons can look back on when they are grown up. He also hopes to show their “living form”, or their childlike innocence, in the most genuine way possible.

Japanese photographer Hideaki Hamada chose a subject very close to his heart for his photo project: his own sons, Haru and Mina.

Conversations about Life with a good friend

Conversation with a good friend... I said, “I am scared of a lot of things. I shred a few tears and I push through. Maybe it's not that I'm scared of the unknown, it's the apprehension of the bad situations I might put myself into. But, I close my eyes, trust the process and go. I have no regrets. Not even one in my life. All the happiness, sadness, tears, laughter... all of it. I loved every single moment because without it, I wouldn't be the person I am today. I'm lucky where I feel everything will turn out alright because I have faith. Some days, it's harder than others... but, I move forward. Look back if I need to mend the past in the present moment. Try new things to learn more about myself and the world... Then, go back into my cave... Vow to live a better life and be the best version of Thuy. That's all I really ask for... and If I die young, I feel I have lived a perfect life.”

Notions of Love and Relationship

Notions of Love and Relationship

By Thuy Ton

Love is a spiritual journey two people embark upon together. It’s the commitment for the emergence of one’s true self and reaching one’s highest potential. It's a process where two people create, build, and work together as a team towards a common goal of self-actualization through one another. Love, thus, becomes a creative journey that start with knowing and understanding oneself from an emotional, mental and spiritual level in order to share your life with someone else.

Love is a selfless entity that involves growth within oneself. It's the surrender of one's own sense of "self", the ego, and being able to be one with your inner true nature.  In that one shows compassion and love for first one’s own self in order to help foster another person’s inner true being. That includes embracing the other person for truly who they are, not forcing or pressuring someone to be or become who you want them to be.  Causing self-doubt in other is not true love.
Love is a natural process and it starts within oneself.  To find the source of love, you have to look within. It starts with loving yourself and establishing a healthy relationship with one’s true self. If you don’t love yourself, how can another person love the person that you are? Self-worth and self- respect is a product of love. It’s the foundation where all good is formed and it can only be found within your own soul and heart.
Often times, we are our own worst enemy. With the ego, insecurities, and lack of self-awareness, we create an unfriendly and unhealthy environment that prohibits the nurturing of this thing we all call Love.  Like holding a baby in your arms, it must be handled with care and compassion. The healing can only start from within one’s own inner being. Thus, the exploration of one’s inner child depends on our own awareness so we can reconcile all that life has handed us.
With trust in the process, the heart can heal to make way for a more fulfilling and meaningful spiritual journey. It’s a conscience choice to start a mind-full practice that incorporates compassion and forgiveness attained through deep thought and calming of the mind. It’s something within us, not something we attain from our surroundings. Love is a way of life and of being. It’s a state of mind.
A relationship or relationships then stems from the principles of Love. This includes the relationship you have with yourself. I have always felt having a strong foundation is the essence of any relationship. A relationship is something more tangible as it’s what we create, but Love is how to live. It's a fundamental principle.
A relationship becomes a mechanism for one to reach beyond their current state. It’s a mirror into the depths of our soul. The love you share fosters an environment where both people thrive by just being in the same room. The shared energy creates a safe and open environment for one to grow and nurture their inner true nature. The love stands by itself, without rules and constriction, as it is an end in itself. Everything else is a means to an end.
There have been 3 key things that I have come to believe is important in any kind of relationship. The first key element is respect. It comes from truly loving someone, where you would never intentionally or subconsciously disregard the person. Respect for what you share and it’s the connection you have with one another.  The second key component is honesty. Moral standards and ethical values upheld, in conjunction with respect.  Being real in that love. The last component is truthful, open communication. It’s the transparency and open mindedness in the heart, mind, speech and thought exchanged to the one you love.
A relationship, then becomes like the air you breathe. It is the wind beneath your wings for you to fly to higher grounds. To love and be loved is to be free.  It’s a space of freedom, roots to ground you, and the reason you remain still in your heart, mind and soul.
What I've learned throughout my life is just to trust and know things will work out regardless of what it is. Love starts within you first. Then, it is distributed to those around you. What is meant to be yours, will always be yours. True love just is. It will always be there. It is what remains unchanged within you.
The formation of fear and apprehension around relationships is a vicious circle and cycle. Once it starts, it snowballs into something beyond your control. The heart must control the mind and vice versa. Therefore, happiness and peace of mind derives from one's own self and mind, given to oneself.
I have come to recognize the concept of Love in some people’s mind is wreckless in nature involving the need for power, possessiveness, control, manipulation, abusive internal struggles, projections of the past and self-loathing. The love or relationship is a means to an end, not an end in itself. It is used to fulfill something missing or lacking confined by restrictions and conditions.
The word “unconditionally love” was not apart of their realm of understanding.  We all learn Love in different ways, from our family and friends. In life, one should never be forced to live up to other people’s ideals. We all make mistakes and we fall apart. No one is perfect. Life situations happen and these situations need to happen in order for people to grow.
To be challenged in life is to expand the mind, realm of thought and one’s own abilities. It is necessary to induce change and routine so new habits of behaviors can form in order for one to become the best version of oneself. It’s fundamental. Trial, error, endings, and new beginning are all apart of the process we call Life.
We are all in charge of our own self and being, not that of others. Support and love is appreciated, but force and controlling of other’s mind to handle or do things the way one would achieve something is beyond comprehension. The question then becomes whether one is making decisions for whom, yourself or the other person.
As our surroundings play a major role in your lives, our circle of friends or circle of influence change as well. We as people evolve and as we do, our groups of friends and mentors change. Our life and how we live become a reflection of where we are now at that period of time. Change is evitable. As a result, unconditional love is tested among us all and the realities of our relationships/love become more real as we grow. We don’t grow to be or become something. We actually grow more into ourselves and who we truly are.

To foster Love, one needs Love in their life. Love is pure and innocent, without boundaries and conditions. It just is. It brings out the best in you.  It’s a mirror into one’s soul. We are mere reflections of how others are toward us. Hence, relationships become a tool to reaching enlightenment and self awareness.

Everything else is easy. It's simple. Love begets love. Compassion begets compassion. Kindness begets kindness. The hard part is recognizing and understanding who you are, embracing change, and allowing others around you to do the same.

Love is only from within, and given out. Love deeply, truly, honestly, openly and unconditionally.  Love is freedom. So soar, every single day.

Oneself

Thoughts become things. The power of thought brings forth the reality of our external perception and attitudes about the world. It’s in those moments of fear and doubt where we become our own worst enemy. It is, also, in those moments where our most defining moments break us out of our predetermined notions of ourselves.  Awaken your soul to your own true self and be the best version of self.  Shine and fly free, unbounded by your own demise.
Life is life, but you have a choice of what you bring into your life. Feed your world with love. One step closer each day… freedom. Live with passion.. with meaning, purpose and love.

Reflections- What do you want to be when you grow up?

As I embark on a new journey, I think back at where I was a year ago...the people in my life and the road we traveled.

I remember all the people who helped me get to this point. I decided to share a email I wrote to my old company before I left.

March 1, 2012

Dear friends,

As some of you may know, my last day at BlueArc is Tuesday, March 6.  I wanted to thank you all of you for being a part of my life over the last 5.5 years.  You were my teachers, mentors, friends, and most importantly, my family.  It was the sales' team tradition to have a storytelling night at kick off, but since I won't be there this year, I wanted to share mine.

I remember the phone call I got from Tony, the day I had accepted my position here at BlueArc.  He said, "This is your Captain. Captain Sunshine.  We are pleased to have you on board. Are you ready to report to duty?" I said, "Yes!"

From that moment on, I knew I was embarking on a journey that would be AMAZING!  I was ready to take on whatever was before me.  How can one go wrong with someone named Captain Sunshine! =)

As I started working with the team, there was this magic energy in the air that could always fill up a room with excitement.  Even when things got heavy and difficult at times, we worked together to make sure we held everything together.  We had each other. There's been people who came and gone, but those who stuck around held a belief that was stronger than gold... We believed in BlueArc and the culture we created. We were excited!

I remember when Chris came on board and we were having our first one-on-one. He asked me, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"  That question has stayed with me even until today. As much as we were talking about my job at BlueArc, being here was more than earning a paycheck and walking to starbucks with my friends every morning. I learned a lot about myself and how I've grown to be the person I am today. I know that BlueArc has had a big impact in my life so I wanted to thank all of you for being there for me.  Although, most of the team I support was remote and we saw each other once a year, it always felt like a warm reunion when we did and I attribute that to the connection and respect we had for each other.

BlueCrew, you are most talented, driven individuals I have ever met in my life. Thank you for being my teachers... for showing me the very essence of the human spirit and heart.  You showed me that with meaning, you really can achieve everything you ever wanted. You taught me that principles such as honesty, trust and respect rings true no matter where you live in the world, how you grew up or your background.  You taught me about life and definitely, what I wanted to be when I grow up.

Thank you for your sweet smiles and happy emails. Even allowing me to walk through the BlueArc doors every morning and say to Darlene, "Morning mom."  Even through tough times, everyone smiled and did their best to be there for one other because we've had to overcome a lot of adversity to be where we are today.

I'm sorry I can't be there with you all as you continue your journey at Hitachi. It's not my path right now.  I hope you understand. Although, we won't have the same "BlueArc, apart of Hitachi Data system" name to fall under the same umbrella, I wanted to say see you soon, my friend. This valley and world is very small.  I will see you soon... Please do keep in touch.

If you are ever in the beautiful city of San Francisco and have time for some starbucks ( I love my Chai tea lattes), I would love to hear about your great adventures and how you are conquering each day with determination and strength.

I think I overstepped my 5 mins allocated storytelling time.  But, I just wanted to give you my sincere thanks... for everything. I will never be the same.   Appreciate your time!

Have a wonderful day!

Cheers,
Thuy

Soul Mate

“People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.

A true soul mate is probably the most important person you'll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave.

A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master...”

Clarity

Sun shines through the midst of the ocean breeze, as the clouds part to share a glimpse of the clear blue sky.  Swirls of emotions flow like the wind, as the world continues to move forward. As you stand still in that snapshot, that moment, clarity is found.

As with all matters of the heart, it starts from within.  It’s in those moments when the clouds break, the sun shines through and a glimpse of clarity shines bright. It’s there. Look for it.

Happy Monday!

Crashing Waves

The water crashes to shore, the movement unpredictable, constant and in motion. Standing still, the resistence is felt. With movement, the body rests and balance is felt. Silent contemplation and introspection cultivates.

Life becomes calm, centered and clarity arrives.  Ask the right questions and the universe will give you an answer that lies deeply in your heart.

Happy Friday!

Transformations

Droplets of rain fall gently falling on the streets, making the sidewalks glisten reflecting its true colors. The sun slowly peeks to bring to light whats needed to be seen. From inside out, the beauty is seen in every detail.

Changes happen all the time and progress is made. Life is not only a process, but a path one could only hope to walk with some grace and integrity. Release your inner child every moment and the circle of transformation become complete at any stage of life as it's apart of who you are. Be real.. be truth.. be honest.

Shine Bright!

Magnolias stand tall, unwavering to its surroundings. In nature, one's inner nature becomes reveal as we seek only that of which we are. In solitude, light is found and it is within us to foster all that we are, to shine brightly.

Attitude, determination and discipline enables the desire to forge ahead as well as balances time and patience. Peace brings forth reality and most importantly, the truth. Be free, shine as bright as the sun!

"All successful people men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose." - Brian Tracy

I dare you

I was recently asked the question "what do I value"? I paused and thought... Simplicity, Organization and Elegance!

I take what I know and what I see, bring it together. I give it meaning and energy, then share it with the world. Each thought has meaning, each word has depth, each image breathes LIFE...

Now I dare you to see the world how I see it!

Surrendering to what is

Instead of resisting to changes, surrender. Let life be with you, not against you. If you think “My life will be upside down” don’t worry. How do you know down is not better than upside?
